Freelance CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Andrew started professional life out as an engineer where he got the bug for ideas and innovation. Whilst at Polytechnic he received an award from the automotive company Parkfield Wheels for an invention he designed, built and introduced in to production. Although a successful career in heavy engineering beckoned he became frustrated by its slow pace and decided to move into a more dynamic line of work.
Through a circuitous route of many low paid jobs he found his calling in digital design and became a founding member of AKQA’s creative team in 1998. During 7 years he would work on all of AKQA’s major accounts including Orange, Microsoft, Carlsberg, BMW, Sainsbury’s and Nike.
Fearing he was becoming institutionalised he left AKQA in 2005 to become a freelance creative director where he’s been in demand ever since. Andrew’s work includes award winning site redesigns, integrated marketing campaigns and business winning pitch presentations. His work has also been published internationally in magazines such as Communication Arts and Creative Review.
As a side line he helped launch a restaurant with his brother – Mother Mash – which recently won a Time Out award for Best Cheap Eats.
